OLUNTEERS OPPORTUNITIES
Humanitarian Affairs offers volunteer opportunities in community projects throughout the world. We currently provide volunteer programs through our partner organizations in Cambodia, China, India, Nepal, Philippines, Russia, East Timor, Banda Aceh, Myanmar, Mongolia and Vietnam. The network continues to expand with new programs currently being researched and assessed. Our vision is to support the work of local community organizations in developing countries through the placement of international volunteers. We believe that local communities are in the best position to determine their needs, and we provide volunteers to help them achieve their goals. Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the global community and gain experience, and also fosters personal growth. Humanitarian Affairs can arrange opportunities for you to be involved in humanitarian work experience in various parts of the world through our Partner Organizations. Currently, there are 2 types of Humanitarian Involvement you can participate in. We can assist you in initiating a Humanitarian Relief program to any part of the world. Or help placed you in a Volunteer Experience Program with any of our Overseas Partners. If you decide to initiate a humanitarian program, the team size should be between 18 to 30 participants. If you decide to go on a Volunteer Experience Program, you must inform us at least 3 months in advance. Program Details Volunteers are expected to plan and work out their own itineraries with the assistance of our field officer.
Fee An inscription fee of US$100 for student and US$150 per adult will be levied.
Award A Certificate of Volunteerism will be given to all participants on completion of their relief efforts. However, a Diploma of Voluntary Service will be awarded to those who have completed 3 humanitarian relief programs.
Insurance All Successful Applicants have to purchase their own insurance coverage for the period while they are outstation. Humanitarian Affairs will not be responsible for any claims for sickness, injuries, accidents, loss of luggage, flight delay, etc during the period of humanitarian involvement.
Travel Visas Participants are to ensure that they have the proper travel documents; visas and passports, which are valid for more than 6 months + the period they are on the field.
Attire All Successful Applicants are to purchase 4 pieces of Humanitarian Affairs T-shirts at a cost of US$55 per set.
Membership Successful Applicants must be a member of the Humanitarian Affairs before embarking on the relief mission. A yearly membership of US$30 for students and US$50 for non-students is compulsory.
Application Process All applicants will be notified by email as to whether their application has been successful.
Fill out the application form below. Upon receipt of the form we will process your interests and program feasibility and notify you as soon as possible. A Letter of Confirmation will be sent to you by email.
Inscription fees need to be paid only after you have received the Letter of Confirmation from us. Arrangements and placements will proceed only when the inscription fee is paid in full. There will be no refunds of inscription fees.
Once the inscription fee is paid, we will contact you and keep you up to date regarding the details of the humanitarian involvement.
Throughout the application process, we are committed to working with you to answer any of your questions or concerns. During the period of the humanitarian program we will be available to provide any practical support you may need while in the country of involvement.
