Bezawit
Bogale

When she’s not got her nose in a book, Bezawit can most likely be found singing “Rise Up” by Andra Day whilst perfecting her favourite Ethiopian tibs recipe. Growing up in Ethiopia, Bezawit believes that we have a long way to go in the developmental field and is committed to taking every opportunity to bring about change. Following her menteeship under Michelle Obama’s ‘Let Girls Learn’ program, Bezawit is determined to use her skills to empower other young girls to reach their full potential.

Moving to the US to read Global Development Studies at the University of Virginia brought her one step closer to her goal of pursuing a career in humanitarian aid and sustainable development. Bezawit has worked closely with the Engineering Systems and Environment department to write newsletters raising awareness of environmental issues and interned with Humanitarian Affairs Asia to build a creative marketing strategy that drives forward the urgency of the climate threat. Building on this, Bezawit looks forward to working on the Green Summit to provide a platform for young people to exchange their experiences and create innovative solutions to tackle the climate crisis.
