Once a delegate, I am now a lifetime member of the Humanitarian Affairs family.
In 2016, I attended my 7th University Scholars Leadership Symposium in Hanoi, Vietnam. This transformative experience left me with an ever-growing desire to contribute, serve and forge a more just, peaceful, inclusive and sustainable world.
Not only did it ignite a spark within me, it eventually led me to dedicate a year to various United Nations Sustainable Development Goals projects across five different countries.
That symposium sowed a seed that later bore fruit when I learned how to translate passion into action and be a force for positive change.
This conviction led me to take on the role of Humanitarian Affairs Country Ambassador for Australia and be part of the leadership team at both the 8th and the 9th USLS. It wasn’t long before I packed my bags and officially moved to the Humanitarian Affairs Asia headquarters in Bangkok, where I undertook the Global Internship Placement to organise the inaugural Peace Summit of Emerging Leaders.
Returning to the Humanitarian Affairs family every year felt like I was returning home. It is a place that empowers just as much as it inspires.
I wanted to pay it forward and give back to an organisation that has given me so much. I continued to ask: How can I serve?
Through the mentorship of Mr Kim Solomon and Ms Janice Leong, I have grown as a person, both as a professional and as a leader. I have developed a transferrable skillset, a growth mindset and a deeper understanding of what it means to serve with the heart.
