BREAKOUT 1
HOW TO CREATE SOCIAL CHANGE

Moderator – Felipe Queipo,
Communications Officer, Civil Society & Advocacy Section
Department of Global Communications - United Nations, New York

Synopsis
You are inspired to find ways to better society. You want to take action to address issues facing your communities. How do you bring about social change?

This workshop will equip you with practical and actionable ways to create positive social impact. To bring about social change, you must identify the core values that motivate you to act. Those values are often focused on issues such as climate change, poverty, and other pressing social and environmental challenges impacting society. With values informing your decision-making and strategy, you become purpose-driven and feel empowered to make a difference.

Change doesn’t happen overnight. Solving social and environmental problems take time and effort. But through a purpose-driven approach, you can help create a more just and sustainable future.

BREAKOUT 2
ESSENTIAL SKILLS NEEDED FOR A SOCIAL IMPACT LEADER

Moderator – Derrick Feldmann,
Managing Director of INFLUENCE|SG, United States

Synopsis
Are you eager to improve your leadership skills but are unsure of the qualities you need? The challenges and complexity of the world we live in requires a lifelong learner mindset to build the skillsets of a good social impact leader. Where do you start?

This workshop will empower you with hands-on ways to become a good Social Impact Leader. One that comes with a long-term vision, knows how to motivate and inspire others, and does his or her best to transform those ideas into reality. Characteristics such as passion, integrity, empathy, humility, and honesty come into play. Creative thinking, a strong vision, dedication, and good communication abilities are also essential traits that make you stand out.

From developing your inner resources, to connecting with others, to leading your team, develop all these traits to leave your mark. Equip yourself to become the Social Impact Leader you aspire to be.

BREAKOUT 3
FINANCING FOR SOCIAL IMPACT

Moderator – Orly Zeewy,
Author, Keynote Speaker, Educator and Brand Architect, United States

Synopsis
Do you see raising money effectively as a battle in fundraising for your social impact project? How can you raise significant money that is translated into social impact?

Research shows that fundraising in the non-profits sector just does not work anymore. The new approach is a financing strategy, not a fundraising one. This workshop will educate you on applying the concepts of Financing Not Fundraising to your social impact project – from taking your fundraising message of social impact further, to translating funds raised into social change.

Secure more investment, engagement and commitment to your work in the community. Learn the essential skills to create a broader approach to securing the financing for social impact.

COMMUNITY-BASED EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

A BETTER FUTURE

Are you a real supporter of inclusive and equitable quality education for all? The social and economic backgrounds of elementary school students have a significant impact on their education. It is more challenging when they come from disadvantaged communities. How can you help connect education to a better future?

Experience and participate in the Learning Is Fun Camp to understand the socio-economic backgrounds of students at Darakam School, where Humanitarian Affairs Asia has been providing a volunteering English language teaching program since July 2020. The parents of most of the students in the school work as domestic helpers, cleaners, tuk-tuk drivers, delivery riders, taxi drivers, street vendors in Bangkok's city. Yet, when asked what you want to be when you grow up, their responses are mind-blowing: scientist, mayor, nurse, doctor, policeman, teacher, computer programmer, writer. Are you up for the challenge to believe that these students can become the adults they hope for with quality education and hard work?

Take part in activities, including providing an interactive and joyful English learning experience through story-telling, music, dance, art, and play.

A BETTER LIFE

Are you an advocate for all rights, humans and animals alike, and above all, a natural pet lover? You believe that all lives deserve dignity, love, and attention. How can you be part of the change to help mistreated or neglected dogs get a better life?

The experiential site visit and practical activities at The Man That Rescues Dogs Foundation in Chonburi will equip you with hands-on ways on how it takes small ideas to begin a project close to your heart. Donate, Foster, Adopt – these are three ways the Foundation is creating

solutions to Thailand's country-wide problem of finding many stray dogs on the streets, most of them in deplorable conditions. So, how can you help?

Participate in activities including in The Clinic and the Quarantine Section assistance with cleaning and health checks, joining the feeding route, playing with puppies, and creating initiatives to help the Foundation help more dogs.

AN INCLUSIVE WORLD

Are you concerned by misguided narratives that often surround people living with a disability? Promoting the rights of people living with disabilities, including children, allows for space to build a more inclusive and accessible community and to eliminate harmful physical, social and digital barriers in place that currently exist. How can you help build a world where no one is left behind?

The experiential site visit at the Christian Care Foundation for Children with Disabilities will transform you. To not only increase public awareness and acceptance of people living with disabilities, but to also shed light on how institutional policies continue to silence them. It will equip you with a better understanding of why the creation and implementation of various programs and activities are essential to develop disabled children to their highest potential.

Take part in activities including water therapy play and other therapy games such as art, cooking, music and dance.
