Communications Officer, Department of Global Communications, United Nations
If you ask him, Felipe will tell you that there is nothing more significant than placing yourself at the service of others. A man of deep faith, he credits his humble upbringing in Spain and the values instilled in him by his parents for his love and passion for helping others.
The first in his family to attend college, Felipe found himself at the United Nations, where he first joined as an intern and has slowly built a career in public service focusing on facilitating the creation and strengthening of space for civil society at the U.N. through global communications; giving the many voices often ignored and silenced, a platform through the different programs and projects he leads.
His love for the United Nations and the people it serves does not deter him from addressing the Organization’s shortcomings through an honest and critical analysis, focusing his advocacy efforts to expand the vital role that civil society plays at the global level.
Felipe believes that only by working together, bringing to the table all global actors at all levels, in the true spirit of multilateralism, the ambitious vision of the United Nations will be accomplished.
His faith is the driving force that inspires his work and gives him purpose, and at the same time, his service at the United Nations strengthens his determination to become the best version of himself. But, as he likes to say, he is still working on it.

Founder and CEO, LiteHaus International
Quality education can only be a digital education, and no one should be left behind. “Thank you for not stopping at the red lights” remains the best compliment Jack Growden has ever received.
Jack made the best decision of his young life in September 2017 by founding LiteHaus International. This not-for-profit organisation aims to digitise dreams and bridge the digital divide, primarily across Papua New Guinea and Australia, and further afield Uganda and Pakistan.
He remains steadfast on his mission to provide children in developing countries with the same tools as those living under better circumstances.
A delegate at the 2017 University Scholars Leadership Symposium (USLS), he did not know how a 20-year-old Australian like himself could create a social impact.
He listened to people, who were not much older than him, reflect on how they summoned the courage to start their own initiatives. It was there that he scribbled a name for his initiative in a notebook – “LiteHaus.” Papua New Guinea’s vernacular for lighthouse.
A month after the USLS, he donated his laptop to a school in Papua New Guinea, where he was doing research. This was the start of an incredible mission.
As Program Advisor with Humanitarian Affairs Asia, he has addressed delegates at the 2019 University Scholars Leadership Symposium and continues to provide input in empowering budding social entrepreneurs worldwide.
He was named one of the most inspiring Queenslanders of 2020 and received the Queensland Community Foundation Emerging Philanthropist of the Year Award.
His journey will inspire and empower you to remain steadfast in the mission that you have all the power within you to create social change.

What happens when a person’s life flashes before their eyes? In a brief moment of lonely silence, Sam reflected on how he had lived his life up until that world-shattering moment.
